Kirsten Dunst is conquering Hollywood. From mesmerizing audiences at the age of 12 with a breakthrough performance in 1994’s Interview With the Vampire to pepping up the masses in 2000’s smash hit Bring It On, Dunst has made her presence known with quiet authority.
The fair-skinned, light-eyed beauty is now playing the title role in the retelling of France’s ill-fated queen Marie Antoinette, joining forces again with director Sofia Coppola (they worked together on the critically acclaimed indie film Virgin Suicides).
The pair put their own twist on Marie Antoinette—a risky move that resulted in a controversial opening at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.
In addition to her talent for selecting only the best roles, the publicity-shy actress is also known for her unique, somewhat quirky fashion sense. When out and about in New York, Dunst is almost always looking downtown chic, mixing designer duds with vintage finds and cute sneakers. And on the red carpet, she never fails to impress with her extraordinary selection of dresses and gowns.
